Whether it's caused by hormones, stress, accumulation of dead skin cells, use of anabolic steroids, bacteria in the pores or genes, acne is the one skin problem that anyone wants to be rid of. Common among teens, acne usually continues throughout adulthood. There's still a huge gray place on why some people get severe acne (& get stuck with it pretty much their whole life) and why some only get a few zits here and there. One thing's for sure...the quest for the acne solution continues.

Treatments for acne are commercially available. Products that contain benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or resorcinol reduce acne by removing dead skin cells and unplugging the pores to release the bacteria and oil. Even if your skin has cleared up after using acne medications for a while, continue with the medication because doing so will help prevent future breakouts. & if you just have to have a facial treatment, never show up at a salon to get one. Most of the time, salons have untrained people do facial treatments. It is consistantly better to show up at a dermatologist who is able to give a diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatments for acne problems.

A home remedy for treating acne is to wash your face with water that has cider vinegar in it. Don't rinse it off; leave it on overnight. Make sure you clean your face with mild facial wash before and after using cider vinegar. Another home remedy that can help prevent acne is mixing a few drops of lavender, chamomile and mint oil and two tablespoons of almond oil and applying it onto clean, moist skin.
